Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

It is an operation performed on people with excess fat tissue and sagging skin in the upper arm area. It is especially applied for sagging that is frequently seen after weight loss operations due to obesity. Patients with fat and skin tissue that hangs like bat wings when their arms are raised are the most suitable candidates for this surgery. It is often combined with liposuction.

Surgery

It is applied under general anesthesia. Approximate operation time is 1-2 hours. A linear incision extending along the arm is made on the inner side of the upper arm and excess skin and fat tissue are removed. The incision can be extended to the armpit. A drain can be placed in the operation area. A light pressure bandage is applied.

After Surgery

Eating starts in the early period. The patient is mobilized after eating. He/she is often discharged on the same day. Pain, swelling and bruising may occur. Bathing is allowed within 2 to 3 days. Patient can easily return to work within a week. Light daily activities can be done in the early period. Heavy activities are allowed after 1 month.

Side Effects

There may be unwanted effects due to general anesthesia or surgery. There may be wound healing problems, irregularities or visible permanent scars due to tension at the wound site. Scar treatment will be planned by your doctor if necessary.

Conclusion

A taut and young arm appearance is achieved. It increases self-confidence and contributes to overall body health. Fat removal surgery is often accompanied.
