What is Botulinum Toxin Application?

Botulinum toxin is exotoxin of Clostridium Botulinum A, a bacterium. This toxin prevents the action of substances necessary for muscle contraction. Thus, by reducing the contraction of the muscles in the applied area, it helps to eliminate wrinkles on the skin caused by facial expressions.

The toxin is injected intramuscularly and only in that area the neuromuscular communication is reduced. The effect is completely reversible eliminated from the body. 

The main goal is to obtained a natural appearance as a result of the procedure. A rested and fresh appearance is achieved. Your angry and sad appearance, which occurs with the deepening of your mimic lines, is replaced by a rested and happy appearance. 

Areas of Use

• Elimination of horizontal lines on the forehead, vertical lines between the eyebrows, horizontal lines at the edge of the eyes (crow feet), lines on the nose (bunny line), vertical lines on the lips (smoker line).
• In tooth clenching problems (Masseter).
• Upturning the corner of the mouth.
• Reducing the visibility of gums with smiling (gummy smile).
• Reduction of lines on the neck.
• Browlift.
• Elimination of asymmetries in facial paralysis.
• Treatment of excessive sweating of the hands, feet and armpits (axilla) (hyperhidrosis).
• It is used for the relief of migraine pain.

What is Done Before the Procedure?

The areas to be injected are determined, a drawing can be made. Detailed medical history, patient examination, patient’s expectations, information about the procedure, pre-procedure photography are taken. Pregnancy and breastfeeding must be questioned. 

How is the Process Carried Out?

It does not require any anesthesia. It is applied by microinjection method to the required areas according to the needs of the person. If sweating treatment is to be performed, local anesthesia can be applied as the hand and foot may be painful. The application time for wrinkles is 5 minutes, while sweating treatment may take 10-15 minutes. It is very important to apply it into the correct muscle. 

 What should be Considered After the Procedure?

It is recommended not to wash the face, apply make-up, massage, bend forward and lie down for 1-2 hours after the application. The person can return to his/her daily life immediately. The effect starts in about 2 days and the full effect is seen in about 7-10 days. Since the effect is not fully seen in the first application, it requires control appointment for about 7-10 days. When there is insufficient effect, additional dose application and/or correction of asymmetries is performed. This process is completely reversible.
